In 1986 Index to Theses was a book that listed the theses produced by postgraduate students at UK universities.

Under Monty it started to include abstracts (far more useful than just titles -- remember?) and went online in addition to print.


Index to Theses Vol 51 part 7The database exceeded half a million records by the time Monty and his co-owner Roger Bilboul sold it to Proquest, publisher of the American equivalent.

In 2011, at the age of 93, Monty had finally retired!
